What has to be true for Kalshi to be worth $40 billion?

Change the assumptions. The model recalculates dated cash flows, terminal reinvestment and three conditional equity values.

Research model, not live financial data. The $40bn benchmark refers to reported financing discussions. Every forecast, weight and cash assumption is authored, not company guidance.

Bars share a $0–80bn scale and saturate at $80bn; printed values remain exact to two decimals. The weights are subjective, not confidence levels. Equity is before allocation among options and share classes.

Economic net revenue is after transaction-linked concessions and distribution costs, before Kalshi operating costs. Event turnover counts $1 maximum payout once per matched contract. Perpetuals use exposure traded, a different unit.

Operating profit includes employee stock compensation. Positive operating profit is taxed at 26%; losses receive no instant tax benefit or modeled future tax credit. Growth investment is positive incremental revenue divided by four; no capital release is credited on contraction. Terminal reinvestment equals terminal NOPAT × growth / 20%.

The 78-day 2026 stub uses $4bn annualized revenue, 38% operating margin and reinvestment of 6% of stub revenue. It is common across scenarios; divergence begins in 2027. The $4bn normalization is not an audited annual result. Margins are economic assumptions, not reported profitability.

The standard-library Python model independently reproduces the same default results. The source article records evidence and explains the scenarios. Share-class terms, audited revenue, distribution agreements and unrestricted cash remain unverified.
