Which company stock can you actually buy?

Anthropic, xAI, Databricks, Discord, Neuralink, LEGO, and H-E-B in one dated status table, with the documents behind each buying route.

Monochrome generative point study “Spiral Jelly,” a mathematical form rendered in black and white.

Anthropic had filed for an IPO at the October 26 cutoff. xAI belonged to listed SpaceX. The other five businesses in this guide had private ownership structures. I would identify the issuer and the security before using any price beside those names.

LEGO supplies the clearest trap: its old stock ticker belonged to a shell company that merged with a steel maker. The table below keeps all seven names attached to their actual claims and source dates.

Method & limits

Company announcements, filings and classification pages cited below describe their stated dates. Private-market indications are not executable public quotes; this guide does not assess the suitability of a purchase.

Seven names, different securities

The table records the evidence and dates used in the October 26 guides. Check a later prospectus or exchange notice before placing an order.

Anthropic has filed; the offering is still proposed

Anthropic’s October 26 announcement identifies proposed Class A common shares and ANT as the intended symbol. The registration was not yet effective, and the share count and price range were undetermined. I would wait for the final offering documents and the broker’s actual trading or allocation status before treating a quote page as a purchase route. Announcement.

The public S-1 identifies the issuer and proposed share class. Private shares, an IPO allocation and a purchase after exchange trading begins are three transactions with different eligibility and settlement terms.

xAI sits inside the listed SpaceX parent

The September 2026 SpaceX filing identifies xAI as a wholly owned subsidiary following the February 2 acquisition. SpaceX’s IPO announcement dates the start of SPCX trading to June 12. Buying the parent joins its wider businesses, assets and obligations; it does not isolate the AI subsidiary. Quarterly filing.

XAI also names a gaming token whose governance documents describe another asset. Older private xAI offers need documents explaining how the merger changed the security and who can transfer it.

Databricks’ financing valuation is not an IPO price

Databricks’ July 16, 2026 announcement concerns a strategic financing term sheet at a $188bn valuation. Its February announcement separately discussed equity and debt financing. A signed term sheet, completed equity round and available debt capacity have different effects on the balance sheet. July announcement.

The private-market profile classifies the shares as private securities. For an offered holding, identify the share class, seller, company approval, fees and exit rights. A buyer’s return depends on the purchased share class, price, and terms.

Discord’s public-company ambition has no trading date attached

Discord’s April 23, 2025 leadership announcement connected the CEO transition with eventual public-company ambitions. It supplied no exchange opening, share count or offering price. The company announcement and a private-market profile answer the status question without guessing an IPO month.

A proposed secondary purchase still needs a seller and an approved transferable security. An interest in a fund or special-purpose vehicle gives the buyer rights against that vehicle under its terms, rather than a direct entry in Discord’s share register.

The LEGO ticker belonged to a shell company that merged with a steel maker

Legato Merger Corp. used LEGO for its common shares. It completed its combination with Algoma Steel in October 2021; Algoma announced that common shares would begin trading as ASTL on October 20. The old quote symbol never represented the Danish toy group. Legato filing, Algoma closing announcement.

The LEGO Group is privately owned through LEGO Holding. KIRKBI, the Kirk Kristiansen family’s holding company, owns 75% of LEGO Holding; the LEGO Foundation owns 25%. Neither interest is an ordinary public LEGO Group listing. Company ownership page.

H-E-B’s employee stock plan is an ownership benefit

H-E-B’s 2015 Partner Stock Plan announcement named the Butt family as the primary owners and anticipated employees owning approximately 15% over time. That was the plan’s stated trajectory, not a verified October 2026 percentage. Original plan.

The initial program used company-funded grants for eligible Partners. It did not establish an exchange listing open to any shopper. A plan valuation and a public trading price describe different transaction rights.

The documents determine what you can buy

For listed equity, match the broker’s issuer and share class with the current prospectus or exchange record. For a private offer, inspect the seller’s transfer authority and the company’s approval conditions. For a fund interest, read the vehicle’s holdings, expenses and redemption terms.

I would discard a quote before I discarded those documents. A recognizable company name can lead to a real business, an indirect fund holding, a historical ticker or a token; only the security’s rights explain what reaches the buyer.
